Hello, and welcome to my personal journey and labor of love: RangePointGeo. My adventure with this project commenced in 2019, sparked by a desire to master web-based geospatial tools. This was not just a project; it was a voyage of discovery and learning. Initially it began as a Django server, which I coded from the ground up while honing my skills. The evolution has been remarkable, and what you see today is a testament to that journey.
The inception of this platform was more than just a technical undertaking. It is a manifestation of my lifelong fascination with maps, the art of storytelling through geographic data, and a desire to bring a fresh perspective to the geospatial industry. This platform is not merely a website but a living, breathing entity that reflects the ever-changing landscape of drone technology and mapping.
My Wide Range Professional Background
RangePointGeo is the embodiment of my diverse experiences and expertise. My professional journey began as a firefighter, where I dedicated a decade of my life — while concurrently earning a Master’s in Geographic Information Systems. That foundation led me to a five-year tenure as a Geospatial Analyst and eventually to the role of Program Manager for a federal government geospatial program. My current focus on drone data marks a new chapter, and one I’m excited to share with you.
Each stage of my career has contributed uniquely to my expertise in geospatial sciences. Firefighting taught me the value of quick, accurate decision-making and the importance of precise, reliable data. My academic pursuits in GIS opened my eyes to the vast potential of spatial analysis and how it can be applied to solve real-world problems. As a Geospatial Analyst and Program Manager, I honed my skills in data management, analysis, and visualization, overseeing projects with significant implications for policy and decision-making.
Drone Mapping: A Revolution in Geospatial Technology
I perceive drone mapping as a groundbreaking innovation in the geospatial realm — a catalyst poised to revolutionize the industry. My aspiration for this platform is to create a repository of accumulated knowledge and future discoveries: a resource that propels and benefits the entire geospatial community.
The advent of drone technology has opened up new frontiers in geospatial mapping. Drones provide a unique vantage point, capturing data from angles and perspectives previously unattainable. This technology has revolutionized aerial surveying, making it more accessible and cost-effective. My goal here is to harness this potential and provide insights and solutions that were once considered impossible.
Core Values
At the heart of RangePointGeo are three core values that shape and direct everything here.
Passion. My driving force is an unwavering passion for drone mapping, geospatial sciences, and the dissemination of knowledge. Passion is more than enthusiasm — it’s a commitment to excellence and a relentless pursuit of understanding. It means staying curious, constantly learning, and never settling for the status quo.
Innovation. The geospatial field is in constant flux, and innovation is the only way to stay at the forefront of it. Innovation here isn’t just about adopting new technologies; it’s about rethinking how we approach geospatial problems — integrating disciplines, experimenting with new methodologies, and always looking for better, more efficient ways to capture, analyze, and present spatial data.
Integrity. Integrity is the foundation on which this platform is built. It means being honest in research, transparent in methods, and ethical in practice. This platform prioritizes learning, with monetization taking a secondary role. Any commercial aspects will always be transparent and upfront.
I invite you to explore the Library. It’s a compilation of knowledge, experiences, and insights gained over years of exploration in the field of geospatial sciences — a place where passion, innovation, and integrity converge to chart the future of drone mapping.
